Prior Authorization (PA)

Prior authorization is when your insurance requires approval before covering certain medications or services. It is a required review process.

If a medication requires prior authorization, please contact your insurance first to identify the reason for denial and their specific requirements for coverage before notifying our office.

Processing Time

Please allow 7-10 business days for us to submit the request to your insurance.

How It Works

  • Insurance denies ordered medication
  • Pharmacy request provider to complete PA
  • Provider submits clinical information to insurance
  • Insurance makes determination

Your Role

  • Share information with your healthcare team
  • Save case numbers and reference info
  • Share insurance updates with our office

If Denied

  • You may appeal the decision
  • Peer-to-peer reviews may be requested
  • External review options may be available

Prior authorization assistance is provided at no additional cost. Processing time depends on your insurance carrier.
